Back from Mars

Categories: (Email) Monthly, Kingswood Connection

This week, approximately 75 adult and youth volunteers helped to welcome 120 children to our Vacation Bible School: To Mars and Beyond. The children experienced how we all discover the wonders of God’s universe everyday.

Children traveled through stations each day including Bible story room, assembly, recreation, crafts, and snacks, where the daily Bible story and theme was reinforced through interactive and hands-on activities.

We choose a mission project each year for VBS, and this year we supported the “street sacks” ministry at Kingswood. The children participated by donating items for comfort bags for the homeless. The children also wrote notes to include in the bags. We packed about 250 comfort bags during VBS week. Many families took bags with them to hand out in the community. This is another way for us to share God’s love in the greater Atlanta area.

The children learned some amazing new songs, and had the opportunity to share them during worship on VBS Sunday.

The theme verse, Glory to God who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20) took us through the week with great power. The children heard it, practiced it, and explored its meaning during daily assemblies.

Thank you to all of the members of our community who have helped prepare, serve, and pray for our children and leaders this week. It has been an amazing opportunity to encounter the living God here at Kingswood United Methodist Church. Thank you to my co-chair Christina Scherrer also!

With gratitude,
