Troop's Youth Leaders
PATROL
LEADER's COUNCIL
TROOP HISTORIAN
APPOINTMENT\ELECTION:
(Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader)
Reports
to the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (and works with the Troop Committee
Communications\Publicity Chairman)
SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Set
a good example to other Scouts in attitude, uniform, behavior and speech.
Exemplify the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

Be
active in the troop.
-
Attend
Patrol Leader's Council meetings as necessary to gather information needed
to perform his duties. The Historian is a non-voting member of the PLC.

Maintains the Troop Photo Album, creating an annual photo history of Troop
activities.

Maintains an annual Troop Archive notebook which includes the following:

Patrol
Leader's Council minutes,
-
Troop
Committee minutes,
-
Troop
roster (prepared and provided by the Scoutmaster),
-
Troop
newsletters (prepared and provided by the Newsletter editor),
-
Any
handouts distributed to Scouts during troop meetings.

Other
relevant material.
-
Gathers
pictures and facts about past troop activities and keeps them in a historical
file or scrapbook.
-
Acts as
Troop photographer on outings, and if can not attend specific outings,
recruits another Troop member to take photos on his behalf.

Takes
care of Troop trophies, ribbons, and souvenirs of troop activities.

Takes
care of Troop bulletin boards.
-
Sets a
good example.
-
Enthusiastically, consistently, and correctly wears the Scout uniform.

Lives
by the Scout Oath and Law.

Shows
Scout Spirit.
At the end of his term, passes all relevant records, material,
information, and advice to the newly appointed Historian.
PREREQUISITES::
EXPECTATIONS:
If not satisfactorily performing his duties (as determined by
Scoutmaster and Assistant scoutmasters) due to poor attendance or lack
of attention to responsibilities, can lose his position and not receive
credit for a "position of responsibility."
