Dunwoody,
GA. (February 8, 2004)
- Boy Scout Troop 477, chartered to
Kingswood
United Methodist Church, Dunwoody, GA is pleased to announce that seventeen
year old M. Harrison Bain, son of Dianne and Peter Bain of Dunwoody, and a junior at The Lovett School, has earned his Eagle
Scout Rank. Harrison is one of over fifty seven Eagle Scouts from Troop 477 in
its 32 year history. While only three percent of all boys who enter scouting
achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Harrison joins an impressive group of
individuals who are also Eagle Scouts such as former President Gerald Ford,
former
U. S.
Senator Sam Nunn, astronauts Neil Armstrong, and James Lovell.
Harrison’s Eagle Scout Project was construction of an
obstacle course consisting of three stations to be used for training puppies,
to be service dogs, at the
Canine
Assistance Center in Alpharetta.
Harrison has been active in scouting since the age
of 3 when he went on his first camping trip with the Troop. His older brother,
Matthew, who is also an Eagle Scout, was a member of the Troop at the time and
Harrison became an unofficial mascot of the Troop participating in several
camping trips and Troop activities. Harrison officially joined Troop 477 in 1998 and has been an
active member participating on most of the camping trips and service projects
such as Scouting for Food
and serving in leadership positions within the troop. He has also
been chosen to be a member of Scouting's camping honor society, the "Order Of The
Arrow". One
of the highlights for Harrison was participating in a high adventure trip to
the Philmont Scout Reservation, in Cimeron New Mexico, where he served as a crew
leader.
Harrison is a member
of St. Lukes Presbyterian Church in Dunwoody. He is active in the track
and cross country programs at Lovett, and enjoys all types of outdoor
activities.
Harrison will be recognized at an Eagle Court Of
Honor, to be announced at a later date.
