 TROOP 477 PRESS RELEASE - February 8, 2004

Daniel Louis Gibbons

Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Dunwoody, GA (February 8, 2004):  Boy Scout Troop 477 chartered to Kingswood United Methodist Church is pleased to announce that Daniel Louis Gibbons has been awarded the Eagle Scout Rank by the Boy Scouts of America.  Danny is a sixteen year old sophomore at Dunwoody High School.  He is one of over fifty eight Eagle Scouts from Troop 477 in its 30 year history.  Danny’s experiences in scouting have inspired service toward others and have influenced his future career choices.

Danny’s Eagle Scout Project was reconstruction of a 60 foot bench at the parent pick up area at Peachtree Charter Middle School.  The project also included extensive renovation of an interior courtyard, replanting, and reconstructing a defunct fountain/pond.  This courtyard is now a useful outdoor study area for classes.  This was all with the guidance of Mrs. Bonnie Barton.

Danny joined Troop 477 in 1999 and has been an active member participating on camping trips and service projects.  He has built houses for Charis House with the Troop and Habit for Humanity with his church.  Danny earned his religious award Ad Altarae Dei, and was elected to Scouting’s honor society, the Order of the Arrow.

Danny is a member of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Wildcat Football Team.  He also wrestles Varsity this season in the heavyweight class.  He is a member of teen life at All Saints Catholic Church.

Danny will be recognized at an Eagle Court Of Honor, to be announced at a later date.
